Free · every Saturday evening over Gwangalli Beach, Busan

The Gwangalli M Drone Light Show is a free drone light performance over the sea at Gwangalli Beach, Busan, every Saturday evening throughout 2026. From October to February it runs at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.; from March to September at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Each show lasts about 12 minutes. Shows can be cancelled on the day because of rain, strong wind or signal problems, so check the official notice before you go.

Is it on tonight? Rain and cancellations

The show is cancelled or delayed for rain, strong wind, typhoons or signal problems; the decision comes the day before or on the day. In 2026, shows on June 20, July 4 and August 1 did not go ahead, and on August 15 and 29 only the second show was cancelled.

Upcoming shows and Fireworks Festival day

Each Saturday has a different theme. The October 31 show is “The Myth of Troy” (7 p.m. and 9 p.m.). November programs are usually posted on the official website at the end of the month.

Saturday, November 7 (Busan Fireworks Festival): the fireworks festival is held at the same beach. Last year (2025) there was no drone show on fireworks night, and this year is likely to be the same. That day, see our fireworks guide and plan the drone show for another Saturday.

Best spots

  1. Center of Gwangalli Beach — the drones fly over the sea in front of the middle of the beach. Sit near the water in the middle for the straightest view, with Gwangan Bridge behind. The most crowded spot.
  2. Millak Waterfront Park end — the north (Millak-dong) end gives an angled view with fewer people, and steps to sit on.
  3. South (Namcheon-dong) end — also angled; close to Geumnyeonsan Station for an easy subway trip.
  4. Café or hotel windows on the beach road (2nd floor or higher) — no heads in the way; good with kids on cold nights.

Drone images read correctly only from the front — the further to the side, the more distorted they look. For photos, stay near the center.

Which show to choose, and getting there

First show (7 p.m. in Oct–Feb): best with children, but busiest — arrive 30 minutes early. Second show (9 p.m.): roomier as first-show crowds leave, but much colder — bring a warm jacket. Sunset in late October is around 5:30 p.m., so you can come early for the sunset and bridge lights first.

By subway: Metro Line 2 to Gwangan or Geumnyeonsan, then about a 10-minute walk to the sea. Both stations get crowded right after the show — walk to the other one if one is packed. By car: the beach road and public car parks fill up before the show; park further away. Taxis are hard to catch right after the show — walk a block or two inland to a main road.

Yacht tours leave to match the show times. They're closer and less crowded, but prices and inclusions vary, and if the show is cancelled you may only get the cruise — ask about the refund policy and life jackets before booking. Winter nights on the sea are very cold.

Around Gwangalli and Millak there are many seafood and grilled-shellfish restaurants with sea views. On a chilly evening, hold a warm Busan fish cake (eomuk) or a seed-filled hotteok while you wait. Saturday evenings are busy everywhere, so eat 1–2 hours before the show.
